• Did Pennsylvania Mom Who Stood Up to Dental Bullying Uncover Massive Pediatric Dental Fraud Nationwide?

When a Pennsylvania mother posted a threatening letter on Facebook from her children's former dental practice, Smiles 4 Keeps, which threatened to report her to Child Protection Services if she did not keep a dental appointment for her child, a firestorm erupted. The Smiles 4 Keeps letter received by Trey Hoyumpa has ignited commentary from thousands of parents and patients across the nation telling their stories of dental abuse, bullying, and fraud at the hands of pediatric dentists. Health Impact News was the first to report the story in the media, and since then, mainstream media sources have also picked up on the story. Responses to the letter have been passionate and prolific, prompting coverage from local media in Pennsylvania to national media sources such as Yahoo News to national political commentator Michelle Malkin. Since publishing our original report, Health Impact News has done some more investigating into the practices of this particular Pennsylvania pediatric dental clinic, and its director Dr. Ross Wezmar, as well as pediatric dental practices nationwide. We have found that Department of Justice settlements for pediatric dental fraud cases are some of the largest fraud settlements in healthcare, especially in relation to billing medicaid for unnecessary child dental services. Dr. Wezmar seems to be a national leader in the Pediatric Dental field, and is actually listed as the "Dental consultant to Head Start, Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare," and "Chairperson AAPD Medicaid Committee," among other accolades tied into billions of dollars of federal funding. The bio on his Smiles 4 Keeps website also boasts that he is the: "Only east coast private practice chosen to participate in Harvard University Children’s Hospital Early Childhood Caries Program aimed at reducing early childhood decay." Harvard University Children's Hospital is better known as Boston Children's Hospital, infamous for its reputation for medically kidnapping children for medical research, as was exposed nationally with the Justina Pelletier medical kidnap case that gained national exposure. Could it be that the firestorm Pennsylvania mom Trey Hoyumpa unwittingly caused by publishing a letter received by Dr. Ross Wezmar's Smiles 4 Keeps pediatric dental clinic threatening to report her to Child Protection Services for failing to keep a dental appointment is the tip of the iceberg in nationwide pediatric dental fraud practices?

I was a patient of Dr. Wezmar when I was a child (I'm now 32). I can attest to his poor bedside manner and his terrible practices. He has been bullying children and parents for over 25 years. He should have lost his license years ago. Many young adults in NEPA can recount their horrible experiences as his patients.

He pulled one of my baby teeth after the adult tooth had started to come in behind it and the baby tooth didn't loosen on it's own and an abscess had begun to form. He did this with no numbing at all. He became verbally abusive to me (I was about 6 or 7 at the time) and threatened me with physical violence and restraints when I cried out in pain. He actually put his foot on the side of the chair to be able to pull harder!

That was the last time I went there. I refused to go to the dentist again for quite a few years. I still suffer from extreme anxiety with anything dental.

If you can I would look into their billing practices. Everytime I walked out of that office with my son a few years ago, I had to pay them more than $750 to have work done on his teeth. They insisted that they exhausted my private dental benefits. They never provided me with a breakdown if what in was paying for or what was being billed. They just said this is needed and I needed to pay if by his next visit so the work can be performed.

My sons dentist (previous now) tried to pull stuff like this. From the first visit I informed them (my son wasnt even two yet) that I would remain with my son at all times until I felt he was old enough to tell me what happened behind closed doors. At 3 they wanted to cap about half of his teeth and I refused.. first there's no reason to cap baby teeth, second I am not comfortable (even now at age 6) of sedating a child of his size, especially outside of a hospital. After about a year of trying to get me to cap his teeth I finally told the dentist they could drill and fill but they were not sedating him. Dentist told me they didnt drill and fill only capped and if I didnt let them I would have to take him else where. Told the dentist right then and there I wanted my sons medical records and I would find another dentist. They refused to release the records and said I would have to sign a release form and they would send the new dentist his info. Suprisingly they had no record of me signing the release form and made me drive 20 miles to resign before they would send the records the new dentist.

Of course, caps are a ton more expensive, and require several visits - your son was worth money! I am glad you didn't let him do that, as it is totally unnecessary!

So another way that Children can be forced from Parent's authority huh? Most people do not know but Children placed in CPS are just a way station to some Pedophile's house for playtime. The Pedophiles put in orders and CPS fulfills those orders! It is a very EVIL SYSTEM. Pedophiles are real and they are everywhere in the corridors of Power!
