GMO Bill Passes Senate: Law Would Exempt 99% of all GMO Food from Being LabeledWe’ve been reporting on the Roberts-Stabenow bill for some weeks now. The public is being told it’s a “mandatory labeling” bill. We call it a “liar labeling” bill—a complete sham that is designed to avoid real mandatory labeling. Bad news: the Senate just passed it, 63 to 30. Now the Roberts-Stabenow bill moves to the House of Representatives. Time is running out to kill or amend this legislation. We must at the very least amend it.
GMO Bill Passes Senate: Law Would Exempt 99% of all GMO Food from Being Labeled
Labeling GMOs gives them false legitimacy. The law of the land is the 1958 FDCA - food, drug, cosmetics act.
It states that ANY petitioner to gain access to these markets MUST BE PROVEN SAFE and this will take not just short term safety studies, but will need to include long term and multi-generational studies for safety also. The GMOron industry has pretty much totally refused to do this.
In fact they state that the bureaucrats (theirs of course) CHANGED the law so the GMOs are compliant. Well - newsflash. In the REAL USA there is only one group which can make a law, and that group is Congress. Since a bureaucrat is not congress, they cannot change the law, which in effect creates a new law and literally contravenes the intention of congress in passing that food safety law.
Since the 1958 FDCA truly IS the law of the land - all GMOs are illegally in all of these markets.
