• Child with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome taken from Loving Family by Doctors

The fact that Medical Kidnappings have become so common is now reaching the mainstream media, who are beginning to investigate stories in their local communities. This report comes to us from WMTW 8 in Maine. In this report, reporter Katie Thompson interviews the parents of 2-month old Ryder Ross, who was taken away from his family when they brought him into the emergency room because his leg was swollen. X-rays allegedly revealed multiple fractures in various stages of healing throughout Ryder's body. Doctors reported them to Child Protection Services (DHHS in Maine) for child abuse, and they lost custody. However, blood work showed vitamin D and calcium deficiencies in the baby, and a doctor at Boston Medical Center diagnosed the baby with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which doctors say is not all that rare. "Somewhere around one in five-thousand individuals probably have this disorder and its significantly under diagnosed," said Dr. Jeff Milunsky, with the Center for Human Genetics in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The couple is still fighting to get their child back, however, as the father has been charged with criminal charges of child abuse.

My family has gone through this same issue and are still fighting to get my grandchildren home with their parents! These medical issues are in my family. But no one believes us because I came from and old fashioned family who never went to the drs for any diagnosis..my mother treated us at home with old fashioned remedies. Vitamin D deficiency must be ruled out. Here is a great discussion of two similar cases by John Cannell, MD, of the Vitamin D Council. http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/blog/child-abuse-or-infantile-rickets/ Child abuse needs to be considered, of course. But failure to consider vitamin D deficiency and arresting the parents is a very distinct but unfortunately legal form of abuse.

why don't they discuss the older child? if child abuse were true, wouldn't she also have injuries? none of this makes sense

I'm also very interested in reading your SIDS article and looking at your book.

It is sad to read this case. I shudder to read that Boston hospitals are involved. Boston is well known for kidnapping children. However, to satify this issue, the EDS organization could provide referral to the specialists that treat the children with brittle bones. Even my metabolic geneticist is very familiar with the brittle bone conditions and doing research on the subject now. This is at Texas Children's in Houston. There is a large metabolic and genetics group that treat children with such problems. I think parents go to the wrong places for treatment of their children. Parents need to be educated. And eductated on this horrible system and how to keep records of their child and all illnesses etc. so that they can fight when necessary. I had to for 20 years just to prove what I really had. They kept telling me if I had it I was be dead it was a disease found at birth and you usually die at birth. Oooops there is a fluke I did not die. And am a researcher and advocate so others live because the schools still teach 1973 information!1!! So no wonder about not understanding about brittle bones, EDS, ornithine and proline deficiencies that should be checked. Plus there may be other enzymes that are deficient. There are several EDS types that caused by genetic mutations. ANd then there is EDS three that has been found to be caused by other sources. I know I have this. And have had broken bones many times.

Wish my daughter had been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos when she was little -there are so many different forms of it- maybe she would be alive today.

I have Ehlers Danlos so does my son. As a child my mother was terrified of taking me to doctors as I had frequent bruising dislocations and pain. Same here today as an adult. She was accused multiple times of abusing me. Thankful I've not yet had trouble taking my own son in. EDS is extremely painful the last thing this child needs is to be in a stressful situation on top of the EDS. My heart thoughts prayers go out to this family I wish there was something i could do to help.

I would be VERY interested in your information. I have 1 birth child who, the dr admitted, has hydrocephaly due to a reaction to vaccinations. Looking back upon our oldest child's issues, SIDS monitor, she likely had reactions as well.

I would disagree with Dr. Iannelli! We have over 4,000 children who die each year form SIDS--most likely due medical neglect and some parents are put away in jail (see Gary Null's "Vaccine Nation" documentary for examples), for allegedly abusing their children when they have scurvy (and underlying causes too complicated to get into here.) I wrote about this at Cornell in 1980, over 34 years ago, so this is NOT new information. We have one in eight children born premature--that's over 200,000 each year mostly due to vitamin deficiencies--in America!), and one in six suffering from asthma and allergies for a variety of PREVENTABLE reasons. That's a lot of children suffering under CURRENT medical care both in death and disability. The forty percent that are overweight? The one in four hundred that have (Preventable) Type I Diabetes is also too many. These are big numbers too as are the number that die from cancer--about 2,500 per year, for the last year for which statistic are available. About 14,000 develop cancer between 0 and 19 years of age. Even recently saw a new born baby, born with huge brain tumor! Seventeen year old had her arm twisted to get the Gardisal shot during her pregnancy!. And should we forget the one in 88 (one in 68 in New Jersey), that now have neurological injuries and are (likely) permanently disabled? It's shameful the 1,500 that are killed by sick/abusive parents each year and they should be punished, but the much greater number of injuries AND deaths is at the hand of conventional doctors. Want to see the HEALTHIEST children in America? That would be, of course, the Amish of Pennsylvania, but we CAN'T look there, as these children do everything wrong! No TV's, No Cars, play in dirt--damn, they get their hands dirty (or they get soil-based organisms, making their immune systems better), they drink Raw milk, exercise a lot and don't eat junk food. Oops, I almost forgot, they have NO autism and virtually no obesity. Oh, and (I almost forgot again), the never vaccinate, UNLESS children were adopted, in which case the vaccinations were mandatory to get into this country. (For my seven page article on SIDS, ask--it's off my website as it's three years old) For the two chapters of my latest book--which discuss copper and human nutrition (and E.D. syndrome too), just also ask, and I'll e-mail it to you for free.

Yes, but you fail to mention that vast majority of children suffering dying and suffering from abuse are within the foster care system: http://medicalkidnap.com/2014/03/06/foster-homes-where-good-kids-go-to-die/

The vast majority of children who do suffer from child abuse do not have a disorder like EDS though. Not that it is an excuse for what happened to this family, but each year, just over 1,500 children die in the United States from child abuse and neglect.
